The Maradona of old.

The commentator was right – that goal set up by Maradona was the only decent thing he did for the whole month.

Dizzy penalty by Lupu – he did a few steps, without speed and scores very composed.
I saw, that Bonner always flyed in good corner (look at).Lung was near to save at Cascarino’s shot.
Fine song in this penalties (Romania – Ireland), so virginal

Was that the only World Cup ever that saw three of the British Teams participate — and two of them into the quarter finals?
June 9th, 2009 at 20:13
italia 90 only had 2 british teams (England and scotland), Ireland isn’t part of britain remember, it was partitioned off in the 1920s hence why they have a different currency and PM etc…
In 1982 and 86 (england, sco and NI) and in 1958 (England, wales, scotland and NI) wales and NI made the QFs

Oops. Silly me to brush over such details.
Thanks for the info re: past successes of proper UK teams.

Actually in the 1958 World Cup in Sweden there were 4 British teams (Eng, Scot, Wales and North. Ireland) and two of them were in the quarter-finals.
Suprisingly, however, Eng. was not among these two – they were N. I. and W.
And Wales was knocked-out by future world champion Brasil, which won there in Sweden a few days later.

No, Ireland is not part of the UK. But it is in the British Isles – if that is what you mean?
